We recommend that you regularly change all-season tyres from the front to the rear axle – this means that they can wear down more evenly and their service life can be increased.

How do I recognise all-season tyres?

All-season tyres are officially classed as winter tyres. When making a purchase, make sure that the tyres are labelled with the snowflake symbol (also known as the alpine or 3PMSF symbol) or the M+S symbol (production before 2018, valid until 2024).

Manufacturer names such as “All-weather” or “All-season” as well as special weather symbols (snowflake, leaf, sun and raindrop) on the tyre flank indicate that they are suitable for all seasons.

When is it recommended to use all-weather tyres?

Thanks to their modern tread profiles, all-weather tyres are generally suitable for all seasons. However, there are still some things to keep in mind: All-season tyres are a compromise and combine properties of summer and winter tyres. However, their composition means that they are usually inferior to summer or winter tyres when it comes to driving characteristics. There is a conflict of objectives in their construction: Either winter performance or properties for driving in wet conditions are improved at the expense of the respective other factor.

How long do all-season tyres last?

A number of factors, such as driving style or tyre age, have an impact on how long all-season tyres last. With average use, the tyres can be used for up to 50,000 km. The general rule is as follows: The maximum service life of tyres differs according to tyre type. You should change your all-season tyres after six to eight years – or earlier, of course, if they are damaged or the tread is worn down more quickly.
